Love birds James and Cecelia Marsh, who are celebrating their 75th Valentine’s Day together aged 95.
They’re proof that true love really does exist!
The adorable pair live at Bupa Abbotsleigh Mews care home in Sidcup, South East London.
James and Cecelia are marking the huge milestone with a special romantic meal prepared by staff.
They just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in December 2018 and first met in the early 1940s after being introduced by Cecelia’s baby brother Bill.
It was meant to be!
Just three years later, they were completely head over heels for each other and wed on Christmas Day in 1943. How romantic!
You might want to take note, as Cecelia and James even shared the secret to their long-lasting marriage 75 years on.
The key is “communication”, and Cecelia said she and James always “worked together” to fix any issues or disagreements they had.
They’ve been through everything together, and were separated during the war.
“I never thought James and I would still be together after all this time.
“Especially after he was called up to the mines during the war – he had no option, he was going whether we liked it or not.
And after all this time, they’re more in love than ever and have three children, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Tracey Cheeseman, home manager at their care home, said it’s clear they’re still head over heels for each other. Aww!
“Jim and Ciss really are an inspirational couple – even after 75 years married, you can tell there’s still a spark,” Tracey said.
Cecelia added, “Even after 75 years, he’s still the same man I married and we’re as in love today as we were on our wedding day.
“And because we were married on Christmas Day, it’s always been easy to remember the date.
“We’ve always worked together with whatever we’ve done. We even used to ride a tandem bicycle.”
They don’t care what they do on Valentine’s Day, as long as they’re together.
“We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day in a big way. We used to – flowers, chocolates, that kind of thing.
James and Cecelia did make each other hand-made cards though, with some help from the staff.
Pass us the tissues!
